Now, the department is asking for help in locating the missing man, who detectives say was ordered to the facility by the courts.
According to police, Colon left Citrus Health, 8375 S. Palm Dr., at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
"Colon did not have possession of a cell phone, money, or identification when he left the facility," police said in a news release. "While Colon is not believed to be a danger to the public, he suffers from schizophrenia and substance abuse issues."
Colon, who was last seen wearing a navy blue sweatshirt with a white T-shirt underneath, navy blue pants and sandals, is described as being 5 feet, 4 inches and about 145 pounds, with short brown hair, brown eyes, and trimmed facial hair.
