Broward robber ambushes woman in elevator — but door shuts in face during escape
A man with a kitchen knife robbed a senior citizen in an elevator — but he couldn’t make an immediate escape as the elevator door closed in his face.
Forced to ride with his victim, 77-year-old Lorraine Bain, the man went through her purse.
When the doors opened on the fourth floor, he exited and made his escape down the stairs, according to surveillance video released Wednesday by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The robbery happened at 9:34 p.m. April 29 in the 3000 block of Northwest 48th Avenue in Lauderdale Lakes.
When Bain stepped into the elevator, the robber approached from behind and demanded her purse, according to BSO. She handed it over, and the door closed before he could get out quickly.
