Driver who exited car after crash struck and killed on I-595
A driver was killed on Interstate 595 in Davie after she hit a wall, got out of her car and was then struck by another vehicle, according to the FHP.
Julie Michele Castor, 18, of Davie was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla and traveling west on I-95 near University Drive when she was cut off by vehicles that appeared to be racing, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Castor veered left and struck a concrete barrier wall. She exited and was standing next to her car when she was struck by a 1997 Toyota Avalon driven by Nichole Leeann Custer, 28, of Davie.
Castor died on the road, according to an FHP report. The crash, which happened at 11:53 p.m. Wednesday, is under investigation.
The vehicles that were racing are described as a green Ford Mustang and a dark gray vehicle.
