Man takes money, lighters from gas station. On the way out, door is held for him.
A man robbed a Dania Beach gas station/convenience store and left with two trays of money — and a half-dozen disposable lighters.
On Monday, the Broward Sheriff's Office released video of the Sept. 8 Mobil Gas Station heist in hopes of identifying the masked robber.
The video showed the man walking in the store, 2109 Griffin Road, around 3:30 a.m. and pointing a gun at the clerk. BSO said the man cocked the weapon. The clerk opened the register and the robber grabbed the tray and told the clerk to get the tray from the other register. The clerk handed it over and the robber, still holding the gun in his right hand, grabbed a handful of lighters, put them on the money tray and walked out.
Making his escape even easier: A customer held the door for him as he walked out.
The man got into the passenger side of a silver Ford Explorer with silver chrome rims.
Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Robbery Unit Det. Theophilus Woulard at 954-321-4553 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
