A 6-year-old boy remained in the hospital Monday after he nearly drowned at a popular Hollywood water park.
Dozens of families enjoying Easter Sunday at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park, 3300 N. Park Rd., watched as lifeguards worked to revive the child,
“There were hundreds of people here and at least 15 to 20 lifeguards so it almost doesn’t make sense,” said Dina Knight, a park visitor.
The child, according to witnesses, was not breathing when he was pulled from the pool at the park’s Castaway Island.

“They were trying to resuscitate him, do CPR, at some point I saw the lifeguards, like, cheering,” Knight said.
The child was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital conscious and breathing, according to witnesses.
Knight said she was praying the boy pulls through.
“It’s really sad; we’re hoping he’s OK. A little girl who was 4 asked her mommy ‘why is he sleeping’ so we’re really praying, especially on this day, that he’s OK and he will live and that he’s going to survive this,” Knight said.
