Five or more cellphones are missing after an early morning store break-in

Miramar police on Wednesday released surveillance footage of an early morning burglary at a King Mobile Phone store.

The store, on Southwest 64th Avenue, was broken into between 2 and 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The suspect returned multiple times to steal more phones before Miramar police noticed the crime, Public Information Officer Tania Rues said.

“One of our officers actually drove by and noticed shattered glass,” Rues said. “The alarm did not go off, but they did have an alarm system.”

The suspect is described as being between 5’11 to 6’2 tall with a shadow of a beard. On the video, a man in a light-colored hoodie can be seen crouching to enter the store through the shattered door. He pulls his hoodie up to conceal his face before bending down to grab items from below the camera’s view.

At 6:30 a.m. when police came to the scene, Rues said at least five phones were reported missing, but a more through inventory will be conducted.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
