Broken-main sinkhole swallows car, floods street in Weston
A sinkhole swallowed the back of an SUV on Sunday morning and led to the evacuation of several houses when a water main broke in Weston.
No one was injured in the incident, said Mike Jachles, a spokesman with Broward Sheriff’s Fire-Rescue.
Several vehicles were moved and three households were evacuated as a precaution, he said. The sinkhole opened up in the 2200 block of Columbia Street.
The broken main flowed water to the doors of 15 homes, Jachles said.
