The Broward Sheriff's Office is asking the publics' help in identifying a man who allegedly stole a woman's purse out of her car at a Oakland Park car wash on May 10, 2017.

A woman was vacuuming her car at an Oakland Park car wash when two people in a Passat parked close by.

Video, captured on surveillance cameras at Sparkle Clean Car Wash, shows the woman taking a break, looking at her cell phone and then putting it back in her purse on the passenger's side seat.

Meanwhile, a man in the Passat got out and began vacuuming his car.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office released video Monday of the burglary, which happened just after 10 a.m. May 14 at the car wash, 3061 NW 17th Terr.

As soon as the woman walked to the front of her car, the man dropped the vacuum, and made a dash to her car. He grabbed her purse, dropped something, picked it up and then jumped back in the passenger's side of the Passat. The Passat took off.

“It took only a split second for the thief to reach into the car, grab the purse and drive off,” BSO said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to call BSO Detective Samantha Cottam at 954-202-3131 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
