An ice-cream parlor employee came to the rescue of a woman who was mugged and dragged across the parking lot in Dania Beach.
The robber was caught on video at at Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor during Sunday night’s purse-snatching at 128 S. Federal Hwy., according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Employee William Cruz tried to stop the robbery.

“Someone tried to pull a crime of opportunity by stealing a girl’s purse. The girl’s mother tackled the guy and one of our employees chased him down and got the purse,” Jaxson’s General Manager Jerry Smith told CBS4.
Rebecca Fisher, 24, and her family, visiting from Connecticut, were leaving the iconic restaurant at 11:15 p.m. Sunday when she was thrown to the ground as she was about to get into the car. Her parents and other customers intervened, were able to get he purse back and restrained the suspect, the sheriff’s office said.
“My wife jumped on the guy and I tripped him,” the victim’s father, Thomas Fisher, said.
He was able to break free and threatened the group: “My homeboys will take care of you.”
Authorities are looking for the man, who weighs about 300 pounds and has a shaved head.
