Larger ferry to run Fort Lauderdale-Freeport route
A new ferry will start running between Port Everglades and Freeport Harbour in Grand Bahama Island on Thursday.
Baleária Ferry Express will start using a 1,000-passenger vessel nicknamed Bahama Mama on the trips, which take place five or six days a week depending on the week. Schedules are online at www.ferryexpress.com.
The new ferry replaces the Pinar del Rio, which had 463 passengers. Bahama Mama includes both economy and first-class seating, private suites, a pool, lounges, a casino, duty-free shopping, a restaurant and bars and cafes.
