A free cookie wasn’t enough for a Subway customer. He wanted the cash, too

It didn’t take the man long to cut to the chase.

“Let’s make this quick, I have a gun. Give me the money,” he said to a cashier at an Oakland Park Subway as soon as he walked in to the store.

The incident, which was caught on the restaurant’s surveillance cameras, happened just before 10 p.m. Sept. 4.

The video, released Wednesday by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, shows a man walk into the restaurant, 4911 N. Andrews Ave., and head straight to the register. He then leaves with a drawer of cash.

According to BSO, the man, who detectives say is in his 20s with a thin build and dreadlocks, had been in the restaurant earlier in the night and the cashier gave him a free cookie.

When he returned, he complained about the cookie and demanded cash.

He wore a blue sweatshirt, dark or black pants and sneakers.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Det. Mohammad Razi at 954-321-4547. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
