Palmer Trinity senior is named a candidate for the national scholars program

David Fumagalli is a senior at Palmer Trinity School who was recently nominated for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Palmer Trinity School senior David Fumagalli was nominated by an admissions counselor as a candidate for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. David was chosen based on his performance on both the ACT and SAT exams.

“We are extremely proud of David and his achievements,” said Patrick Roberts, head of school at Palmer Trinity School. “We are confident success will follow him into college and beyond.”

Founded in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors the nation’s most distinguished high school seniors. Students either have exceptional talent in the performing arts or accomplishments in career and education. David is one of 5,000 students to be nominated for the program this year.

MONSIGNOR EDWARD PACE HIGH SCHOOL

Monsignor Edward Pace High School STEM Academy students Diana Porras, Gabriela Cespedes, and Exmiralda Bazile were each named winners in the National Center for Women and Information Technology’s 2021 Aspirations in Computing Award (AiC). Diana and Gabriela won the 2021 South Florida Affiliate Award, and Exmiralda won the 2021 Rising Star South Florida Affiliate Award.

The AiC program was created to recognize high school students for computing-related achievements and interests. Winners of the award gain access to several benefits, including regional and national recognition, prizes, hands-on activities, access to scholarships, internships, and job opportunities, and a network of successful women with careers in computing and engineering.

MIAMI DADE COLLEGE

Several students from Miami Dade College’s Homestead, Kendall, North, Wolfson, and Padron campuses earned multiple awards at the 2021 Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference. The students competed against Florida colleges and universities and placed in the top ten.

Phi Beta Lambda is a collegiate business organization, and MDC’s chapter has earned more than 100 awards in state and national competitions to date. MDC’s 2021 winners, and their respective categories, are:

2. Accounting Principles: Jaime Jimenez Vega, 1st place; Rolaindjv Desir, 2nd place.

3. Administrative Support Technology: Steven Olvera, 1st place.

5. Business Law: Cristina Barreto, 2nd place

6. Computer Concepts: Rocio Vicentela, 2nd place, Samir Kalouf, 3rd place.
