Palm Beach bishop to have surgery for brain tumor
Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito, who heads the Diocese of Palm Beach, has announced that he is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday for a benign brain tumor.
Barbarito, 65, made the announcement Friday and many Roman Catholics learned of the surgery during Sunday church services. Barbarito said the tumor was discovered after he sought treatment for an episode of vertigo. Tests proved negative for inner ear problems, he said.
