Gas prices continue to rise in Miami area

Miami-area gas prices continue to rise, increasing 1.5 cents in the past week to average $2.19, according to a survey by fuel monitor GasBuddy.com.

Even with the increase, gas prices in South Florida are more than 45 cents lower than the same day a year ago. But the trend is evident: Prices are nearly 7 cents higher than a month ago.

Nationally, the average price at the pump is $2.14 a gallon, rising 2.4 cents over the past week.
