Performer at school pep rally catches fire
A performer at a Delray Beach Atlantic pep rally caught on fire Thursday afternoon, according to Palm Beach Post and social media reports.
The man’s basketball dunking stunt, which involved fire, wound up igniting him. A Palm Beach County School District spokesman told the Post the performer was taken to the hospital for burns and two students went for smoke inhalation.
ACHS: all student complaints were respiratory in nature. Only burn victim was adult performer. Patients transported by our crews and @PBCFR.

At least 20 people were injured during the pep rally, organized to get students pumped up for state standardized tests, WPTV reported.
The performer was taken to a Delray Beach hospital with burns.
"The school staff was quick to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher and unfortunately, due to the powder from the extinguisher, there were a few inhalation injuries. All in all, we did transport eight individuals from the school. Only one was transported as a trauma alert the other seven were transported for non-life threatening injuries," Delray Beach Fire Rescue Capt. Ed Beardsley told the station.
