A loaded gun was found Wednesday on the campus of Jan Mann Opportunity School, police said.
Miami-Dade schools police responded to the alternative school, 16101 NW 44th Ct., after getting a tip. Police didn't release any information about the age or grade of the student.
"We got a tip that someone possibly had a firearm and was confronted by administration, and the kid got a little belligerent," said Lt. Raul Correa. "He did have a small caliber firearm on him. It was loaded.”
He was taken into custody by the officer and in his belligerence, he told police “that there were other people at school with guns."

Police put the school on lockdown after the student made the claim. Correa said no other firearms were found.
