If you have outside plans for Labor Day, the morning may be the best option for sun, according to the National Weather Service.

“This weekend has been pretty rainy, and Monday will be no different,” said meteorologist Stephen Konarik.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain Monday, with the storms most likely in the afternoon.

“It’s not going to be an all day wash out,” he said.

The heavy afternoon thunderstorms are typical for early September, Konarik said. Both Saturday and Sunday brought heavy rain and lightning to South Florida.

The rain will likely stick around for Tuesday — when there is also a 50 percent chance of rain — but should dry up as the week goes on.
