‘Hunting stand’ found near Trump’s Air Force One exit at Palm Beach airport: FBI
The Secret Service found what officials are calling a “suspicious stand” near a part of Palm Beach International Airport frequented by President Donald Trump.
FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X that agents are investigating the stand. Patel said the item was located near the Air Force One landing zone.
In an interview with Fox News, Patel described the discovery as “an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone.”
“The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cell phone analytics capabilities,” Patel said.
In a statement, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said agents discovered the stand during “security preparations” before Air Force One landed on Friday. “Items of interest” were found in the area, although the Secret Service did not identify or release details about the items.
The agency, Guglielmi added, is working with the FBI and law enforcement in Palm Beach.
“There was no impact to any movements, and no individuals were present or involved at the location,” Guglielmi said in the statement. “While we are not able to provide details about the specific items or their intent, this incident underscores the importance of our layered security measures.”
Trump traveled to South Florida for the weekend, according to CBS News. Trump’s mansion and resort Mar-a-Lago is in Palm Beach.
The FBI’s investigation closed all lanes of Southern Boulevard between Congress Avenue and Military Trail. The roadways were reopened Sunday evening.
