Broward singer Kingston, mother ordered to pay back $38,500 to victim of fraud
Although Sean Kingston was sentenced to prison for three and a half years for bilking jewelers and other businesses out of more than $1 million, the popular South Florida reggae-pop singer only has to pay back $38,500 to a victim, a federal judge has ruled.
U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz imposed the restitution order last week in Fort Lauderdale federal court after prosecutors and defense attorneys for Kingston and his mother agreed on the amount to be paid to the seller of an off-road vehicle. The victim is identified as “B.C.” in the judge’s order.
In August, Leibowitz sentenced Kisean Paul Anderson, known as Sean Kingston, 35, to prison and ordered him to enter a 500-hour residential drug- and alcohol-treatment program, court records show. He surrendered to prison authorities that month. The judge also sentenced his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, 63, to five years. She was taken into federal custody after their trial in March.
A federal jury found Kingston and Turner guilty of five wire fraud-related charges. They were indicted in July 2024, weeks after authorities raided the singer’s rented, seven-bedroom, 7,966-square-foot Southwest Ranches home.

From April 2023 to March 2024, Kingston and Turner carried out an elaborate wire-fraud scheme, prosecutors Marc Anton and Trevor Jones said. The son and mother faked wire transfers in order to obtain vehicles, jewelry and other luxury goods that they never paid for, according to trial evidence. The transactions — which included $480,000 for two watches, $285,000 for another watch, and $159,702 for a car — totaled more than $1 million in goods.
Kingston was represented by lawyer Zeljka Bozanic and Turner by attorney Humberto Dominguez, who did not oppose the prosecutors’ proposed restitution of $38,500, according to the judge’s order.
