Officers arrest man accused of having child, animal sex-abuse files in South Florida
A man living in South Florida is accused of downloading child and animal sex abuse materials, officials said Wednesday.
Oscar Daniel Rojas Garcia, 39, is from Mexico and is undergoing removal proceedings, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said. He is facing charges of transmission of child sexual abuse material, peddling child sexual abuse material and possession of child sexual abuse material.
The South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received seven cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It’s unclear when the tips were made, but Rojas Garcia was living in Coconut Creek at the time, and local detectives identified him as the one who downloaded the explicit material that included sexual abuse of animals and children.
Rojas Garcia moved to Palm Beach County when police were investigating him and, as a result, had to be found again.
On Friday, Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents and other agencies arrested him in Palm Beach County and seized two devices.
He was taken to the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Broward County, where he still remains.
