Miami Beach Fire Rescue, as well as other agencies, continued their search Monday for a 19-year-old who went missing after going swimming in the ocean Saturday night.

The U.S. Coast Guard received an assist request from Miami Beach at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and the agency launched a boat to help in the search, spokesman Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric Rodriguez told the Herald.

Rodriguez said Miami Beach Fire Rescue took over as lead agency in the case, and that the Coast Guard has suspended its search “pending any new information.”

Miami Beach Fire Rescue could not immediately be reached for comment Monday night. Miami Herald news partner CBS Miami reported that the agency, along with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, continued the search Sunday.

WSVN identified the teen as Victor Castaneda. The station reported that he was with a group of other people who went into the water at South Point Beach around 6 p.m. and immediately experienced distress.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
