A wrong way crash on Florida’s Turnpike April 22, 2022, left two men dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 25-year-old man drove the wrong direction on Florida’s Turnpike in Palm Beach early Friday morning and slammed into another car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Both drivers were killed.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of the turnpike, just south of Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.

According to the highway patrol, the 25-year-old man from Weston was driving on the inside shoulder in a sedan when the front left of his car hit another sedan head-on.

The wrong-way car ended up between the center and outside travel lanes, facing north, FHP said. The second car came to a rest on the right grassy area, facing south. The 43-year-old driver from West Palm Beach was killed.

The crash shut down the highway for hours, but it has since reopened.
