Five injured in drive-by shooting near a preschool in Palm Beach County

Five people were hit in a drive-by shooting in a private park near a preschool and an elementary school in Palm Beach County Tuesday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to the shooting around 8 p.m. near the gated Strawberry Lakes Community at Lantana Road and Edgecliff Ave in suburban Lake Worth, where they found five people with gunshot wounds.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, as deputies searched for the shooter in the surrounding area, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened fewer than 400 yards from Indian Pines Elementary School and Future Kids at Lake Worth, a preschool.

The motive for the shooting is unknown, deputies said.
