A Maryland man who made extreme racial threats to kill all Hispanics in Miami in Facebook communications was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison.

Eric Lin, 35, of Clarksburg, Maryland, was given the maximum sentence by U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno after pleading guilty earlier this year in Miami federal court to a felony charge of intentionally transmitting a threatening communication over the internet.

According to court records, Lin acknowledged making multiple threats via Facebook, including to injure and kill a South Florida resident as well as Hispanics in general. Among his messages: “I will stop at Nothing until you, your family, your friends, your entire WORTHLESS LATIN RACE IS RACIALLY EXTERMINATED.”

Records also show that Lin discussed mass shootings of Hispanics and the idolization of Adolf Hitler.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorneys Maria Medetis and Jonathan Kobrinski.
