Watch Navy’s Blue Angels salute South Florida’s healthcare teams and first responders

The Navy’s Blue Angels promised to pay tribute to South Florida’s healthcare workers with a flyover Friday afternoon.

And, sure enough, with a thrilling sense of roar and might, six F-18 Hornets flew in formation over hospitals in the tri-county area from Boca Raton in the north to Homestead in the south.

The plan, as in previous flyovers in New York, Newark and Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas and New Orleans and the National Mall in D.C. was to honor the men and women in the healthcare field for the work they have been doing during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Doctors, nurses, surgeons and housekeeping staffers at the hospitals. First responders on the streets of the U.S. This was the Blue Angels’ way of saying we see you, we hear you and we thank you.

“There’s no better time than now to say thank you to first responders, the unsung community heroes that are going above and beyond and sacrificing for us,” Mickey Markoff, the executive director of the National Salute to America’s Heroes, said in a CBS4 report.

“It’s truly amazing to be recognized this way as heroes. To me, my heroes have always been my patients,” Yani Pascual, clinical coordinator of the NICU at Miami’s Mercy Hospital, told Miami Herald news partner CBS4.
