Mixed Martial Arts Fighter Angel “El Jefe” Corchado was killed in a car crash in Palm Beach County over the weekend, troopers said.

At about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Corchado, 33, was driving off the exit ramp to Sixth Avenue near Lake Worth Beach in his Chevrolet Sonic when he crashed into a traffic light at the bottom of the ramp, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Corchado died in the car, troopers said.

The reason for the crash in central Palm Beach County is unknown, and results on his blood-alcohol level are pending, FHP said.

Corchado was born and raised in Brooklyn and moved to Boynton Beach in 2011, his Facebook page said. He won his pro debut for Atlas Fights in Mississippi in 2014.

MyMMANews reported the last time he competed professionally was for Shogun Fights in 2018, losing by first round knockout to Geraldo Almonte.

It was his dream to be the 145-pound champion of the UFC.
