The year is 1969. And Miami knew how to party, of course.

So how did South Florida spend New Year’s Eve as it headed to a new decade: the ‘70s?

With music and revelry, of course. That hasn’t changed.

At the Cafe Pompei at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, New Year’s Eve dinner and show cost $22.50 for the Hello Diosa Revue starring Diosa Costello and Don Casino. Same holiday deal at the Deauville, a few miles north, where singer Sergio Franchi took the stage and prime rib was on diners’ plates.

Let’s break open the time capsule for a look at how Miami rang in 1970.
