A Jeep with 10 people was doing donuts in a cul-de-sac. That was deadly
A neighborhood Florida cul-de-sac wasn’t as quiet as usual Tuesday night, as 10 people stuffed inside a Jeep Compass and tried to do some donuts.
A few car tricks turned deadly when it overturned and ejected two passengers.
Just after 9 p.m., the driver of the Compass, which can only fit five people, was trying to do donuts in the Stotesbury Way cul-de-sac in Palm Beach County, the sheriff’s office said.
As it turned left, it picked up too much momentum. That caused the Jeep to overturn, ejecting 21-year-old Troy Carrabis and a 15-year-old boy, deputies said. The pair were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Carrabis died from his injuries. The 15-year-old was not hurt.
After the Jeep had flipped, the driver and other seven passengers ran from the car. Deputies were able to catch one of the passengers, a 17-year-old who had minor injuries.
Deputies have identified another 15-year-old who was in the car, but have not yet released the ages and names of the other six people involved in the crash.
The sheriff’s office did not say if any charges are pending or have been filed.
