A Kendall registered nurse masturbated while working as a home nurse for a baby, according to a Florida Department of Health administrative complaint.

The nurse, Raul Gonzalez Cartagena, hung up when reached by a Miami Herald reporter Tuesday morning.

An administrative complaint starts the discipline process that can end with an action from the state Board of Nursing. Gonzalez’s online department listing says he became licensed as a registered nurse July 13, 2023.

The complaint said Gonzalez was working for Team Select Home Care on April 22 as a home nurse for a 1-year-old boy when he used his laptop in pleasuring himself.

“The minimal standards of acceptable and prevailing nursing practice provide that a nurse refrain from masturbating during their nursing shift in the same room where a patient is present,” the complaint said. “[Gonzalez] failed to refrain from masturbating during his nursing shift while in the same room where (the baby) was present.”
