What’s the best hospital for care in South Florida?

Well, it depends on what you need.

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is the top hospital in the nation for opthalmology. Two South Florida public hospital systems — Jackson Health and Memorial Healthcare — have some of the best rehabilitation centers in the nation. And Cleveland Clinic Weston this year was named the No. 1 hospital in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area overall by U.S. News & World Report.

Other hospitals in the region and across the state also are nationally recognized for their expertise in various specialties, including cancer, cardiology and neurology.

Several organizations rank and rate hospitals to help patients find the best care for them, whether they need treatment for a rare, complex condition or a common medical procedure. One of the most well known is U.S. News & World Report, which has evaluated hospitals for decades and recently released its annual 2024-2025 “Best Hospitals” list. The publication used a variety of measures, including federal data, to evaluate more than 4,500 hospitals in the country across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.
