A Miramar nurse slept while she was supposed to be caring for a 4-year-old who suffers seizures and, when she was awake, used force on that child, the Florida Department of Health said in an administrative complaint.

The combination caused the Florida Board of Nursing to revoke the license of Elayna Bash in a final order that posted Wednesday.

The Board of Nursing adopted the allegations in the administrative complaint as findings of fact. The complaint said while working for Lauderhill company Sierra Lifecare, Bash was assigned to provide in-home nursing care for the child, who had a seizure disorder.

The complaint said on March 18, 2020, Bash slept during her shift and, that same day, used force against the child. This counted as, respectively, “failing to meet minimal standards of nursing” and “engaging in unprofessional conduct.”

Bash’s Florida Department of Health online profile said she had been licensed in this state since Oct. 1, 2013. She had no previous disciplinary actions.
