A Miami-area company recalls flu and cold medicines. The contamination can make you sick

Miami-Dade company Efficient Laboratories has recalled three lots of three kinds of Rompe Pecho cold and flu symptom medications after a microbial contamination was found.

“In rare circumstances, consumption of Rompe Pecho from these lots could result in vomiting and diarrhea,” the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice said. “Efficient Laboratories has not received any reports of adverse events to date.”

This covers Rompe Pecho CF Cold & Flu, lot No. 19H359, expiration date August 2022; Rompe Pecho EX Expectorant, lot No. 19F332, expiration date June 2022; and Rompe Pecho MAX Multi-Symptoms lot No. 19B42, expiration date February 2022. These were distributed nationwide.

“The product was manufactured by a third-party contract manufacturer and was found as the result of an investigation,” an Efficient spokesperson said in an email to The Herald.

Consumers with bottles from these lots should stop using them and return them to the store for a full refund. Anyone experiencing health problems from this product should see a doctor and report it to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program by clicking here or calling 1-800-332-1088 to get a reporting form that can be mailed or faxed.

Anyone with questions can call Efficient at 305-805-3456.
