Sunday Florida COVID-19 update: Hospitalizations down by another 171 people

Continuing a trend that began over a week ago, the number of Florida hospital patients with COVID-19 fell by 171, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Sunday report.

There were 9,440 hospital patients who tested positive with COVID-19 in Florida in data reported to HHS from 261 hospitals. That’s that same number of hospitals in Saturday’s report.

Of the people hospitalized in Florida, 1,445 were in intensive-care units, a decrease of four from Saturday. That represents about 22.70% of the state’s ICU beds, compared to 22.75% the previous day.

Sunday’s Miami-Dade dashboard report said there were 826 COVID patients in the county’s hospitals on Saturday, a decrease of 116 from the previous day. Of the 96 new COVID patients, 63 (65.63%) had not been vaccinated. Intensive care patients numbered 176, down 32 from a day earlier.
