Florida COVID update: 2,420 cases and no new deaths added
Florida reported 2,420 COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Thursday, according to Friday’s report to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based on Miami Herald calculations of CDC data.
The Florida Department of Health will most likely add deaths to Thursday’s total. The state has done this in the past when it has added cases and deaths to previous days during the pandemic.
In all, Florida has recorded at least 3,710,624 confirmed COVID cases and 62,007 deaths.
In the past seven days, the state has added 54 deaths and 1,857 cases per day, on average, according to Herald calculations of CDC data.
COVID-19 hospitalizations in Florida
There were 1,383 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Florida, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Wednesday report. This data is reported from 262 Florida hospitals. That is six fewer than in the previous day’s report, when 257 hospitals reported.
COVID-19 patients take up 2.38% of all inpatient beds in the latest report’s hospitals, compared to 2.45% in the previous day’s reporting hospitals.
Of the people hospitalized in Florida, 254 were in intensive care unit beds, an increase of nine. That represents about 4.33% of the state’s ICU hospital beds, compared to 4.38% the previous day.
