As Miami-Dade and Broward reopen, supermarket hours and the best times for shopping
Just as supermarket chains adjusted hours for the novel coronavirus lockdown/quarantine era, some are adjusting as Miami-Dade and Broward counties start to relax restrictions on Monday.
Here’s when each chain will be open as well as suggestions on what time of day would be best for those who want to be in the store with as few people as possible.
Publix
▪ Hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the pharmacies returning to regular, pre-coronavirus hours. No more set-aside hours for senior citizens or first responders.
Best time Publix suggests for low traffic shopping: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
WINN-DIXIE, FRESCO Y MAS
Hours: Starting Thursday, all stores will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. period from Monday through Friday reserved for senior citizens and those most at-risk of COVID-19’s worst effects. Also, 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday will continue to be for healthcare professionals and first responsders.
SEDANO’S
▪ Hours: Each store will operate at its regular hours. Sedano’s says it’ll keep 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for senior citizens and “more vulnerable” customers.
Best time Sedano’s suggests for low traffic shopping: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
THE FRESH MARKET
▪ Hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Best time The Fresh Market suggests for low traffic shopping: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
ALDI
▪ Hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. “Vulnerable shopper hours” will continue to be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
WHOLE FOODS MARKET
▪ Hours: Check with your preferred store for its hours. The hour before each store’s general opening will still be reserved for shoppers 60 years and older, people with disabilities or in a group defined as “high risk” by the CDC.
