Hollywood Beach Broadwalk will soon reopen with restrictions in place

As South Florida tries to find a way back to normacy, the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk will soon be reopened but not with its regular hours before the novel coronavirus outbreak.

On Wednesday, the City of Hollywood announced the Broadwalk, at 101 S. Broadwalk, would reopen on May 13 and can only be used from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The beach sands will be off limits and the city spokeswoman Raelin Storey told the South Florida Sun Sentinel the Broadwalk can be used for exercise, but will only remain open if people don’t abuse the restrictions put in place.

“Hopefully, we get good compliance. We hope we can create an opportunity to exercise while still maintaining recommendations for social distancing, and it remains a safe activity. Compliance equals Broadwalk. Noncompliance means we have to look at shutting it down,” Storey told the Sentinel.

Several parks, golf courses and marinas have opened in Miami-Dade and Broward counties along with new rules and restrictions put in place to maintain safety as the virus still rages.
