For public’s pleasure, Miami police compile a video concert by Gloria Estefan and others
While Miami-Dade County residents are required to stay in their homes, first responders have been trying to make home life a little more fun. First Miami Fire Rescue paraded through downtown, and now Miami police are hosting a concert of videos by Gloria Estefan and others to be livestreamed.
At 7 p.m. on Saturday, the Miami Police Department will host a compilation of music videos featuring Estefan, the Wailers, the Gipsy Chico and InBlue, the Miami police band.
“The purpose of the ‘In This Together’ video release is to show appreciation to those on the front line dealing with this COVID-19 global pandemic and more importantly to the public that have complied with the mandates set forth by authorities regarding isolation, quarantine, and curfews,” Miami police said.
The concert will be livestreamed on Miami police’s Facebook, IGTV and YouTube.
Miami police aren’t the only ones offering some fun for the community.
On Tuesday, Miami Fire Rescue paraded through downtown Miami and Brickell blaring sirens and flashing lights. Dozens of residents stood on balconies and sidewalks banging pots and pans and cheering on the parade of more than a dozen fire and rescue trucks.
On Thursday, Key Biscayne police and fire department performed a similar parade through the Key to thank families for doing their part and staying inside.
