South Florida churches will celebrate Easter virtually due to COVID-19. How to watch
Easter 2020 will be one to remember.
With churches across South Florida closed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, many will be spending Easter Sunday, also known as Resurrection Sunday, at home for the first time.
COVID-19, however, won’t stop churches from celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, albeit virtually. Many of South Florida’s clergy will livestream or post prerecorded messages online for Easter services. Here’s where you can find the services:
Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski of the Archdiocese of Miami will livestream an Easter Vigil Mass at 8 p.m. Saturday from St. Mary’s Cathedral. The service can be viewed on MiamiArch.org and Facebook.
- The Vatican will livestream Pope Francis’ Easter Mass at 5 a.m. Sunday on Facebook and YouTube.
- Christ Journey Church in Coral Gables will livestream services on ChristJourney.tv, Facebook, YouTube, AppleTV and the Christ Journey app. Saturday Easter services will be at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday services will be at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale will livestream its Easter services at 9:30 and 11 Easter Sunday morning on CoralRidge.tv.
- First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables will livestream its Easter service Sunday morning at 11 a.m. on Facebook.
- Holy Cross Lutheran Church in North Miami will livestream on HolyCrossnm.com, YouTube and Facebook. Easter Sunday service begins at 10:30 a.m.
- Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church in Palmetto Bay will livestream its Easter Sunrise Mass at 6:30 a.m. Sunday on Facebook. The church will also livestream its Easter Sunday Mass in English at 10:30 a.m. and in Spanish at 12:30 p.m.
Miami Shores Presbyterian Church will livestream its Easter service Sunday morning at 11 on MSPC.net/watch and YouTube.
- Mt. Zion Historic Baptist Church in Overtown will livestream its Easter service Sunday morning at 10:45 on Facebook.
New Birth Baptist Church Miami in Opa-locka will post an Easter Sunday sunrise service at 5:30 a.m., as well as an “Hallelujah Christ Alive” service at 9:30 a.m. on YouTube.
Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove will post its Easter sunrise service at 6:30 Sunday morning on PlymouthMiami.org.
- St. Augustine Church in Coral Gables will livestream Easter Mass Sunday morning at 8 and 11:30 on SaintAugustineChurch.org/livestream.
- Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Miami will livestream the Easter Sunday Holy Eucharist service at 10 a.m. Sunday on the diocesan Facebook page. The cathedral will also livestream the Liturgy of the Word Sunday morning at 11 on its own Facebook page.
- Washington National Cathedral in the District of Columbia will livestream its Sunday of the Resurrection: Easter Day service on YouTube at 11:15 Sunday morning.
