Florida coronavirus cases swell past 13,600. Palm Beach leads state death toll.

Florida’s Department of Health on Monday evening confirmed 305 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total of confirmed cases to 13,629. There were 18 new deaths reported, bringing the statewide total to 254.

Of the total confirmed cases statewide, 13,214 are Florida residents. Late Sunday, the City of Weston announced Mayor Daniel J. Stermer was likely one of the new patients included in Broward County’s morning report. He tested positive for the disease late Sunday night and is in quarantine.

Six of the 18 new deaths were in South Florida, according to health records. Three people died in Miami-Dade, raising the county death toll to 41. One died in Broward, raising the county death toll to 47.

The oldest person known to have fallen ill with COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, is a 104-year-old man in Palm Beach County. The man tested positive for the disease during the weekend, according to health records. Officials say he did not have any recent travel history but had come into contact with someone who tested positive for the disease.

There are 1,719 people hospitalized in the state.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Florida

As of Monday evening, here’s what Florida’s Department of Health data shows:

Miami-Dade County saw 190 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, raising the county total to 4,671. Those who have fallen ill range from the age of 0 to 103. (Those in the zero age range are newborns in their first year of life.) Health officials say 4,625 are residents, 45 are non-residents and one is a resident who is not in Florida. The county has had 41 deaths and 287 hospitalizations.

Broward County reported eight additional confirmed cases of the disease, raising the county total of confirmed cases to 2,075. Those who have fallen ill range from the age of 0 to 98. Health officials say 2,024 are residents and 51 are non-residents. The county has had 47 deaths and 263 hospitalizations.

Palm Beach County had 13 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, raising the county total to 1,082. Those who have fallen ill range from the age of 0 to 104. Health officials say 1,046 are residents, 34 are non-residents and two are residents who are not in Florida. The county has had 176 hospitalizations and 51 deaths, the highest death toll in Florida.

Monroe County reported one additional confirmed case of the disease, bringing the county total to 46. Those who have fallen ill range from the age of 19 to 80. Health officials say 40 are residents and six are non-residents. The Florida Keys has had two deaths and seven hospitalizations.
