Bored while social distancing? Access SiriusXM Premier for free, company says

SiriusXM satellite radio is offering free access to its Premier Streaming content for non-subscribers through May 15, the company said in a news release.

SiriusXM Select and All Access subscribers already have access to the content through their subscriptions.

The company said it’s hoping to make social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic a little more bearable.

“With so many people asked to stay at home, we are making our full streaming lineup of music, entertainment, news and information easily accessible to everyone,” CEO Jim Meyer said in the release. “In the days ahead, we hope it’s a valuable source of information or diversion, a generous mix of fresh live content, and a source of companionship that comes from the hosts on our many shows and channels.”

Howard Stern kicked off the free offer from his home during “The Howard Stern Show” Tuesday morning, the release said.

The offer drops the paywall on more than 300 channels of programming and hundreds of ad-free music and news channels, the release said.

Starting April 1, Sirius is also bringing back a number of channels, including Billy Joel and Dave Matthews Band-centric stations, to go along with a new upbeat channel called #StayHome Radio and a genre-rich channel of Top 1,000 songs, according to the release.

Listeners can access the content on their cellphones, tablets and computers with the Sirius app, the release said, along with some smart TVs, streaming boxes such as Apple TV and home assistants such as Amazon Alexa.
