A Florida Amazon warehouse employee tested positive for COVID-19, company says
An Amazon warehouse employee tested positive for COVID-19 in Jacksonville, the company said.
Amazon confirmed that one of its associates at the Jacksonville Fulfillment Center had tested positive. The employee was last at the warehouse on March 18. The employee is now in quarantine and receiving medical treatment, Amazon said.
As of Wednesday, Duval County had 60 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three deaths, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Amazon said it told employees at the warehouse and had those who had close contact with the person stay at home with pay for 14 days in self-quarantine.
In order to protect other employees, the company said it has increased cleaning and sanitizing, reorganized break rooms, done away with stand-up meetings and asked employees to avoid non-essential travel.
Other Amazon Fulfillment Centers throughout the country have reported coronavirus cases, such as in California, Michigan and Illinois.
