Despite coronavirus, the afilador truck keeps on rolling along in Miami neighborhoods

You can’t count on much these days, except for maybe more bad coronavirus news.

But in Miami, it seems you can still depend on the comforting, if slightly irritating, noise of the afilador. It’s the truck that resembles an ice cream truck that rolls around Miami, but actually contains a professional who sharpens knives.

Karina Gudiel was walking around her neighborhood in South Miami Heights around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, she told the Miami Herald. And she shot video.

“Afilador!” yelled a man into a microphone, while off key flute music played. “I sharpen all types of knives and scissors!”
