Inter Miami alters its logo to promote social distancing during coronavirus pandemic
Even the intertwined white herons on the Inter Miami logo have decided to social distance for the time being as the world battles the coronavirus pandemic.
Inter Miami announced Monday that it had altered the club’s logo to separate the iconic great white herons, whose legs are normally interlocked, to encourage social distancing on the team’s digital platforms.
“COVID-19 has stopped the world in its tracks and as a result it has never been more important to heed the advice and direction of the authorities to stand for unity and participation in social distancing,” said Chris Allan, the team’s vice president of community engagement. “Inter Miami CF wants to leverage the reach of our club, players and ownership group to amplify and share this message with those who follow us in South Florida and around the world.”
Inter Miami, which suffered a pair of heartbreaking close losses on the road to open its inaugural season, was scheduled to play its long-awaited home debut on Mar. 14 against the Los Angeles Galaxy when the season was suspended indefinitely
Major League Soccer announced last Thursday that it was extending the suspension of all matches, with a target return date of May 10.
In addition to altering its logo in the name of social distancing, Inter Miami is adding content from players and coaches to its newly-released membership app to give fans an inside look to how the team continues to prepare and spend their time during the hiatus.
