Coronavirus

Did you try to get tested for coronavirus in Miami? Tell us about your experience.

Last week, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. He showed little to no symptoms, but a few days before, the mayor had attended a local event with a Brazilian government official who later tested positive for the virus. That left some wondering: If he had no symptoms, then how did he get his hands on a test?

That’s because state and private labs aren’t supposed to be testing anyone unless they’ve shown flu-like symptoms — such as a fever, cough and shortness of breath — and the recent confirmed cases of folks like Suarez have raised questions about if exceptions are being made.

Have you recently tried to get a test for the coronavirus? We want to know how it went. Were you turned away because you didn’t show any symptoms? Then tell us what they said as they declined to test you. Or did you get swabbed? Tell us anything you think we should know about your experience by filling out the questionnaire below — we’ll be in touch.
