Miami-Dade closes permitting building after worker tests positive for COVID-19
Miami-Dade is closing a permitting building for two days of cleaning after a worker there tested positive for COVID-19.
The mayor’s office made the announcement Wednesday night, the first publicly known coronavirus case in the county workforce, which tops 25,000 positions. The unidentified worker for the county’s Regulatory and Economic Resources Department was assigned to the Permitting and Inspection Center at 11805 SW 26th St. in Kendall.
It has been 13 days since the employee was last in the building, according to the release. The agency “has already conducted a cleaning of the employee’s work area and surrounding area [and] in an abundance of caution, they will conduct a deep cleaning of the entire facility.”
The building will reopen Monday, according to the release. Employees who worked close to the person have already been notified, the county said. Details are available online for alternatives during the closure.
This post was updated to correct the street number on the address for the permitting center.
