Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is launching seasonal service from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Destin/Fort Walton Beach — for as low as $35.

The Las Vegas-based airline announced the new twice-weekly routes Thursday. The seasonal route will operate through Aug. 14, with one-way fares starting at $35, depending on the date of travel.

According to a press release, the new route will bring nearly 4,200 additional visitors each year to the Fort Lauderdale area. According to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau, 15.4 million travelers visited Fort Lauderdale in 2015.

“The new direct air service between Destin/Fort Walton Beach and Fort Lauderdale signifies the growth of both cities within the state of Florida, which is exciting,” said Nicki Grossman, president and CEO of the tourism bureau, via a release.

Allegiant now flies from Fort Lauderdale to 17 cities in the U.S.

The ultra-low introductory fares will not be available on some flights, and tickets must be purchased by June 2 for travel by Aug. 14.
