PortMiami announced Wednesday that it welcomed a record number of cruise passengers in fiscal 2014, which ended Sept. 30.

The “Cruise Capital of the World” said it processed 4.77 million multi-day passengers during the fiscal year, up from 4.03 million in 2013. The port processed another 167,000 daily passengers.

Passengers are counted when they get on and off a ship.

In all, 32 ships from 13 different brands used PortMiami during the 12-month stretch.

Officials expect the passenger count to come in at about 4.8 million for fiscal 2015, when the port will serve 34 ships from 15 brands.
