Allegiant to add service from Fort Lauderdale to four cities

Allegiant Air, the low-cost airline with headquarters in Las Vegas, announced this week that it will start direct service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and four cities beginning in October.

The carrier launches nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale and Portsmouth, N.H. on Oct. 1. Following are routes to the Akron-Canton area in Ohio on Oct. 2; Rochester, N.Y. on Oct. 9 and Grand Rapids, Mich. between Dec. 16 and April of 2015.

Allegiant said the new flights would bring more than 58,000 more visitors to South Florida every year.
