Disney cruises now suspended until mid-April, almost two weeks later than first announced
Disney Cruise Line has extended its suspension of new departures by two weeks. Cruises will now not sail until April.
First announced on Thursday, the Walt Disney Company said Disney Cruise Line would be suspending cruises for the rest of March starting on March 14. The line now says it will be suspending all new departures through April 12, matching the time-frame for suspensions by other US-based cruise lines.
“As previously shared, while we know this decision may be disappointing, the health and well-being of our Guests and Crew Members is of the greatest importance,” Disney said in a statement.
Disney’s four cruise ships — Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy — will be affected. The Disney Magic is based in Miami.
The Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic returned to port on Saturday, while the Disney Dream will return to Port Canaveral on Monday. The Disney Wonder, which is currently on a Panama Canal cruise, will continue on its scheduled itinerary and arrive in San Diego on March 20.
Disney Cruise Line will offer guests a future cruise credit or a full refund.
