Coast Guard medevacs 89-year-old off Carnival cruise ship as it heads for Jamaica
An 89-year-old suffering symptoms of a stroke was medevaced off a Carnival cruise ship Monday evening, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
A 1:30 p.m. call from the Carnival Vista brought a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater to the ship, which was 138 miles west of Great Inagua, Bahamas.
The man, suffering from chest pains and accompanied by a nurse, was taken to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in Turks & Caicos around 6:45 p.m.
The Vista was on the way from Miami to Ocho Rios, Jamaica during a cruise around the Caribbean that began Sunday and will end Saturday.
